TBA Studios has just revealed exciting news for their upcoming historical biopic Quezon—the incredibly talented Iain Glen, known for his iconic role as Jorah Mormont on Game of Thrones, is joining the cast! The actor will portray Leonard Wood, the influential U.S. Army major who played a crucial role in the Philippines' journey toward independence. His character will help bring to life the complex relationship between Wood and Manuel Quezon, the Filipino leader striving for freedom from the United States.
Glen’s casting adds a new layer of depth to Quezon, and director Jerrold Tarog couldn’t be more thrilled. He shared that Iain’s unique ability to balance intensity with a more relaxed charm makes him a perfect fit for the role. “Iain Glen has gravitas,” Tarog said, “but he also has the versatility to let loose when the role requires it. That’s exactly what Leonard Wood needs.”
The film’s production has already begun to draw attention, thanks to its grand scale and impressive cast. TBA Studios President and COO Daphne O. Chiu emphasized the significance of the project, noting that it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic productions ever in the Philippines. With support from various organizations, including the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the film is set to showcase the extraordinary artistry of Filipino filmmakers to a global audience.
Glen will join an already impressive ensemble, including Jericho Rosales, who plays the film’s lead role as President Manuel L. Quezon. For fans of Glen’s work, this addition to his illustrious career offers a new chance to see him take on a pivotal historical role, much different from his memorable portrayals in Resident Evil and Downton Abbey.
As Quezon moves forward with production this March, it promises to be a visually stunning and historically rich film, capturing the life and legacy of the man who led the Philippines to independence during the early 20th century. With talent like Glen on board, this project is shaping up to be one to watch.
