The 2024 NBA 2K League (2KL) APAC Invitational, presented by Cignal, concluded successfully on November 17 at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City, marking the fourth edition of this prestigious Asia-Pacific event. Team NO WAY OUT showcased exceptional skill and teamwork, defeating the LGE Eagles in a best-of-three finals series to win their second consecutive APAC Invitational title. The Australia and New Zealand-based champions, led by captain Solomona “Monuhh” Faitaua-Nanai, along with Harry “RealHvzn” Spierings, Dylan “DLaey” Lay, Dylan “Jxhnno-” Johnson, and Aiden “GoldenDunk” Fleming, took home a $5,000 prize and secured a place in the next invitational event.
The tournament featured four elite teams representing the region’s top NBA 2K players: the LGE Eagles and LGE Agila from the Philippines and Team NO WAY OUT and Team Lock Up from Oceania. The competition kicked off on Saturday, November 16, with intense semifinal matchups. LGE Eagles swept Team Lock Up in two games (60-45, 63-53), led by a strong performance from Lynard Clark “PHI_ZavalCB” Banzon. Meanwhile, defending champions Team NO WAY OUT faced off against LGE Agila, ultimately winning a close 2-1 series (59-67, 52-45, 53-50) thanks to a buzzer-beating three-pointer by small forward Dylan “Jxhnno-” Johnson in Game 3.
In the finals, Team NO WAY OUT maintained their dominance, defeating the LGE Eagles in a thrilling sweep (52-44, 52-50). Point guard Harry “RealHvzn” Spierings was named Player of the Series, leading his team in scoring across both games and fending off a late comeback attempt by the Eagles.
The two-day event also included a celebrity 3v3 showmatch that delighted fans with appearances from former and current basketball personalities and NBA 2K content creators like Isaac Go, Margaux Nonato, Gabe Norwood, and Francis “UncleKevin2K” Maguliman. The celebrity final saw Team Tyler, composed of local professionals Tyler Tio, Renzo Subido, and content creator Patrick Sarmiento, defeat Team Diego (Diego Dario, Aaron Black, and Patrick “HOOPJUNKIE” Edrozo) by a score of 21-16.
Throughout the weekend, the event featured a range of interactive basketball activities, including skill-testing booths, a photobooth, a 360-degree camera station, and NBA 2K25 gaming kiosks. Fans could also purchase exclusive NBA merchandise at the NBA Store Philippines booth, enhancing the overall experience.
