I recently attended HUAWEI’s “Tech with Love” event at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), where 5th Avenue transformed into an inspiring hub of technology, wellness, and creativity. Held on November 9 and 10, the event attracted over 20,000 visitors to explore HUAWEI’s latest innovations, including the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series, WATCH D2, and the versatile MatePad Pro 12.2”.
The pop-up was full of energy, with impressive 3D Pet Panda installations along the avenue, creating a lively backdrop for exploring HUAWEI's wellness-centered technology. Attendees like myself were invited to engage in interactive stations dedicated to health, fitness, and creative expression, all while the cheerful Pet Panda—featured as a digital assistant on the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5—added a playful touch to the experience. It was clear that this event was designed not only to showcase technology but to uplift spirits and foster well-being.
One of the most talked-about devices was the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series, which even Filipino celebrities Sofia Andres and Jericho Rosales use to boost their wellness routines. I tried it myself and was impressed by how the TruSense System accurately tracked my health metrics, including heart rate and respiratory rate, providing instant insights that felt tailored to my lifestyle. The Emotional Wellbeing Assistant, featuring the friendly Pet Panda, even encouraged regular breaks for emotional balance—a thoughtful detail that many of us appreciated.
Guests were also excited to try out the WATCH GT 5’s advanced tracking features, from pro-level workout modes to the Sunflower Positioning System, which improves accuracy in cycling and trail running. Jericho Rosales, a fitness enthusiast, mentioned how the Freediving mode and Golf Course mode help him stay active while enjoying his favorite sports. This smartwatch felt like it was made for people seeking a balance of fitness, health, and style.
An exciting addition was the new WATCH Pay feature, which brings GCash QR code payments directly to the wrist. I witnessed guests enjoying the convenience of making purchases with just a few taps on their smartwatches. WATCH Pay started rolling out across HUAWEI smartwatches on November 9, and by December 15, iOS users will also have access to it.
At “The Only Emotion That Matters” station, visitors could connect with their emotions by taking a short mood assessment, with the Pet Panda offering playful reflections of our moods. Another crowd favorite was the “Let’s Light Up Our Rings Together” station, where I joined others on stationary bikes, cycling to power up the Activity Rings display. This experience created a strong sense of community and motivation to keep moving, with everyone cheering each other on as we completed our rings.
The HUAWEI WATCH D2 was another highlight, as it offers 24-hour blood pressure monitoring directly from the wrist, a first of its kind for HUAWEI. I tried it at the “Every Heartbeat Makes TruSense” zone and quickly saw a Health Glance report that gave me real-time insights into my blood pressure, stress levels, and more. This hands-on experience made me appreciate how the WATCH D2 can be an essential tool for staying on top of health.
For creative types, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2” proved to be a powerful companion for art and productivity. At the “Go Paint Your Imagination” station, I joined other guests in digital painting, using the GoPaint app’s artistic tools to bring our ideas to life on the tablet’s dual OLED PaperMatte display. HUAWEI also announced the GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2024, encouraging artists to submit digital artwork for the chance to win prizes and gain recognition. It was exciting to hear about the panel of renowned artists who will judge the entries, including concept artists from blockbuster movies.
The event truly highlighted HUAWEI’s commitment to tech-driven wellness and creativity, bringing new innovations to the forefront. For more details on HUAWEI’s latest offerings, visit HUAWEI Experience Stores or check out their official website and social media accounts.
