The Philippines continues to impress on the global design stage with eight projects from across the nation shortlisted in various categories at the prestigious World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2024. Held in Singapore from November 6th to 8th, 2024, WAF is the world's largest annual international architectural event, featuring presentations, discussions, and insights from leading industry figures.
This year's Filipino finalists include a mix of established and emerging firms. Metro Manila is well-represented with Archion Architects returning for their second WAF appearance with the "Felicidad Sy Multi-Specialty Building" in the Future Projects: Health category. Newcomer Bacungan Architects joins the competition with "The Waste-Wise House" under Future Projects: Competition, and Pluszerotwo Architecture debuts with "Balai Ani: House of Harvest" in the Future Projects: Residential category.

Cebu boasts three entries. LLG Architects Design Studio presents "The Rise at Monterazzas" (Future Projects: Residential), while Obra Majoralia Architecture showcases the award-winning "Loboc Performing Arts Center, Cebu Center" (Future Projects: Culture). San Studio rounds out Cebu's participation with "Interweaving Dualities: Reimagining City Hall Architecture in Lapu-Lapu City" (Future Projects: Civic), a project selected by Kanto, the official Philippine WAF media partner.
Finally, Davao contributes two projects. LT Pagaduan Design Studio's "New Public Market and Terminal Complex" in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur competes in the Future Projects: Infrastructure category. Swito Designs enters the Future Projects: Civic category with "Peace Building" in Maguindanao Del Norte Provincial Capitol, Davao City.
To prepare and boost the finalists' morale, WAF founding partner GROHE, along with Kanto, organized a series of preparatory events. "Filipino designers consistently amaze us with their creativity and talent," said Hermie Limbo, LIXIL Water Technology APAC's Philippine country leader. "GROHE remains committed to supporting them through these events, providing the tools they need to shine at WAF."
