OMODA E5 Earns Automobile Association of the Philippines Certification

The OMODA E5 maintained an average cruising speed of 80 km/h during the 13-hour-long test drive, exceeding the vehicle’s 430-kilometer published range distance.

OMODA E5, the first fully-electric crossover SUV of global automotive brand OMODA Philippines, has earned the electric vehicle certification from the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) after passing the efficiency run to validate the vehicle’s 430-kilometer published range distance.

Two OMODA E5 vehicles underwent the certification process following the test parameters: 100% battery charge, using standard OEM equipment; tire pressures set to 42 psi; and a speed range of 60 to 100 kph when safe and legal to do so on highways and following speed limits on city and provincial roads. Each car carried three passengers and 10 kg of items. While the vehicles were set to the extreme energy-saving mode with the highest regenerative braking settings activated, passengers were able to adjust the AC temperature and blower setting according to their preference to simulate a realistic environment for vehicle use. Other accessories such as headlamps, wipers and infotainment system were also used according to passenger preference while adaptive cruise control was activated for both cars. Under these efficiency run settings, the OMODA E5 maintained a cruising speed of 80 km/h and reached a maximum speed of 90 km/h when necessary during the nearly 13-hour long drive across six destinations, including Shell Mampalasan, NLEX Balagtas, Petron TPLEX NB, Clean Beach Coffee, Poro Point Lighthouse, and Shell TPLEX Rosario.

By the end of the run, the first vehicle had a final battery state of charge of 2% with an estimated remaining range of 8 km, resulting in a total range capability of 442.7 km. Meanwhile, the second vehicle had a remaining range of 28 km with a 7% battery state of charge, achieving a total distance of 428.8 km. Measured based on the odometer/tripmeter readings plus the remaining range distance, the test vehicles recorded an average of 435 kilometers, exceeding the car’s 430 kilometers published range.
