The word “Java” conjures the lore and romance of coffee. The story began in the 17th century, when seedlings first arrived on the island from the port of Mocha.
This coffee comes from the region of Parahyangan, where coffees are traditionally processed using the semi-washed (wet-hulled) method.
Wet- hulled coffees often have more body and lower acidity and are known to have complex layers of flavor.
In the cup, aromas of sage are layered with flavor notes of bittersweet chocolate and vanilla-like sweetness.

Dubbed as the “abode of the gods” by locals, the Preanger (pree-unger) region in West Java feels distinctly otherworldly—prolific rainfall, black volcanic earth and lush rainforest shade trees abound to form ideal coffee-growing conditions. Cooler temperatures also serve to slow coffee maturation, creating a complex cup profile that’s both sweet and herbal. This coffee is a notable favorite—and one we’re immensely proud to be offering once again.
