7-Eleven Shares the Spirit of Christmas With Virtual Run for a Cause 2020

7-Eleven, the country’s go-to convenience chain, ends 2020 on a high note with a virtual run for Filipino runners who have previously registered for the 7-Eleven Run 2020 Manila, Cebu, and Davao early this year. The 7-Eleven Christmas Virtual Run for a Cause will be the company’s first-ever virtual run in the country.

The Christmas Virtual Run is an excellent way to not only avoid crowds while staying healthy and active during the holiday season, but also to give to those who are in need. 7-Eleven will donate care packages to each of the participants’ chosen charities. The care packages will be coursed through the local government units (LGU) to which the organizations belong.

“2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. The 7-Eleven Christmas Virtual Run is our way of turning things around for us and the participants, end the year in high spirits, and start fresh in 2021. It is also the best way for us to give back to the communities we serve,” said Jose Victor Paterno, President and CEO, Philippine Seven Corporation.

Run 2020 registrants are eligible to join
There will be no new signups for this virtual run. Only those who have registered for 7-Eleven Run 2020 Manila, Cebu, and Davao earlier this year will be eligible for the event. Eligible runners must check their email, register on the virtual run website, select a 7-Eleven store where they can pick up their finisher kit, and nominate an LGU beneficiary.

Season of giving
In lieu of declaring race winners and awarding them with cash prizes and medals, the Christmas Virtual Run will give care packages to those who are in need. The number of care packages per organization or beneficiary will be determined by the participants’ votes.

Participants can also keep track of how many votes their elected LGU beneficiary received on the ‘Virtual Run Beneficiary’ tab in the run711.com website.

Participants can run on their own time
One of the best things about a virtual run is that participants can run on their own terms—something they wouldn’t normally be able to do in a regular race. They can not only avoid crowds, but also carefully plan their route. Participants can even complete their run on a treadmill.

Runners are required to use a GPS-tracking app, watch, or treadmill, and run their registered distances. The Christmas Virtual Run has already begun, and it will end on December 12 at 10:00 pm.

The 7-Eleven Christmas Virtual Run will still feature the same categories: 42 km, 32 km, 10 km, 16 km, 10 km, 10 km Buddy, 5 km, 5 km Buddy, 3 km, and 1 km (kids’ run). Two new categories — the 42KM relay and 21KM relay — were added.

After completing their race, participants need to upload a screenshot of their route. An email will be sent to remind participants to claim their finisher kit once it arrives at their selected 7-Eleven store.

The 7-Eleven Christmas Virtual Run for a Cause 2020 is held in partnership with PLDT, Smart, One Sports, TV 5, Cignal, Radyo 5 92.3 News FM, Gulp, Cornetto, Pocari Sweat, Del Monte Philippines, Gatorade, Summit Natural Drinking Water, Coca-Cola, C2, Nature’s Spring, San Miguel, Kopiko 78, Del Monte Fit ‘n Right, Selecta, Le Minerale, Re Fresh Mineral Water, Aquafina, Pepsi, Nutri Boost, B’lue, Wilkins, Safeguard, Zesto Fresh Pick, Mogu Mogu, Nestle Bear Brand Adult Plus, Cobra Energy Drink, Absolute, Sip Purified Water, and Under Armour.
