World Champ Macca McCormack heads world class Pro field in 2015 Yellow Cab Challenge Philippines Subic-Bataan

The old school course of YellowCab Challenge Philippines Subic-Bataan is considered by many as the toughest half-distance race in Asia.

Multi-awarded world champion Chris “Macca” McCormack will lead a fast and competitive Pro field as he is about to compete in the YellowCab Challenge Philippines on Feb. 21.

Challenge Atlantic City winner Fredrik Croneborg (SWE) and the inaugural Challenge Philippines second place finisher Michael Murphy (AUS) will also be joining the event and will surely ratchet up the competition. 

With the tough and hilly bike course, expect a charge in the hills by strong cyclists like former cycling Pro Domenico Passuello (ITA). He will be playing dark horse and is coming off from a great season after winning the 2014 Challenge Rimini and Challenge Sardinia. Completing the star-studded line-up are Brian Fleischmann (USA), 2013 Challenge Laguna Phuket winner Rasmus Petraeus (DEN); Eric Watson (AUS); and Austrian upstart Christoph Schlagbauer (AUT), who will be racing for the first time in the Philippines.

Inaugural Challenge Philippines second placer Michael Murphy of Australia will be back in the 2015 Subic-Bataan leg and will be facing multi-warded world champions.

Heading the world class women’s Pro field and racing her first Challenge race is Kelly Williamson, who just had an impressive 2014 season highlighted by her win in Ironman Texas. Lining up with her are 2014 Challenge Batemans Bay and IM 70.3 St. Croix winner Radka Vodickova (CZE), uber cyclist and Olympic medalist Emma Pooley (GBR), who placed third in last year’s event. 

Parys Edwards (GBR), who was winner in 2013 ITU World Championships in London, is likely to heat up the competition even more. Rounding up the list are hometown favorites Monica Torres (PHI), Carole Fuchs (THA), Katja Rabe (DEU), European campaigner Louise Rundqvist (SWE) and Stef Puszka (AUS).

Different triathlon world champs across the globe will be coming to the Philippines for the 2015 YellowCab Challenge Philippines Subic-Bataan on Feb. 21.

With the most prestigious and fastest Pro field assembled in Southeast Asia, the 2015 Challenge Philippines Subic-Bataan is a race to look forward to. Spectators are encouraged to join in all of the festivities and there will be special new cheering stations along the course.

Aside from the main event and other activities, there will be an epic post-race awards party at the Lighthouse Resort in Subic that is open for all, which is to be attended by Pinoy celebrities and top athletes. This world class season opener for long distance racing in the Philippines and all other festivities will be held in Camayan Beach Resort, Subic Bay and the rugged and beautiful province of Bataan.
