SKY On-Demand. Set to change Viewing Experience

Earlier today, SKY Cable launched something BIG. Yeap. SKY Cable has just revealed their latest service, the SKY On-Demand. Now, what's amazing about this? Well, viewers can now catch up on missed shows and series on TV, because they can now directly stream their favorite cable TV, local show and also movies!

You no longer need to rely on your PCs or mobile devices to catch-up on your show because now you get watch it on your TV! This new service from SKY is the answer to the TV viewer's long-time wish. Is to be able to playback missed shows directly on TV.

Some shows  like, House of Cards, Master Chef, Restaurant Impossible, Pawn Stars, Bondi Vet, Scorpion, Extant, Red Band Society, Ben 10, Dora, Adventure Time, Chowder, even local channels like TV Patrol, ASAP, Forevermore, Two Wives and a whole lot more from channels like RTL-CBS, History, Asian Food Channel, Food Network Asia, E!, Lifetime, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, ANC and of course, ABSCBN.

Soon, they will add more programs like Asia’s Got Talent, The Amazing Race, The Voice, Madam Secretary, How to Get Away with Murder, and so much more. 

One important thing to take note of is that the number of available shows and channels for streaming will depend on a subscriber’s current cable TV plan. "We put our customers first" shares Mr. Montinola. "Our next move will depend on what our customers and viewers want.".

During the Q&A, I asked if is there a size capacity or a limit on how many shows need to be accessed. They responded that since it is in the Cloud, basically it is limitless and that we can watch as many shows as we want. Not that's something worth looking into.

But when they said cloud, I thought that maybe this service would require a connection. So I asked. An Internet connection is needed and the right speed for the Sky On-demand to work perfectly would be around 3mbps.

Driven to give the best possible viewing experience at home to the next level, SKY On-Demand also brings video playback functionality and personal playlist creation to TV screens. This will allow each member of the family to experience premium channel programming alongside a robust service that will enable them to stream any series or film of their choice. Ultimately, SKY On-Demand is for the benefit of all Filipino viewers since “SKY continues to push technology to the next level with only 1 objective in mind -- to Wow its Customers”, as mentioned by SKY Cable Corporation's COO Rodrigo Montinola during his opening remarks in SKY’s sneak peak event for the new service last February 24, 2015.

SKYcable subscribers can soon use this new service by simply upgrading their current SD or HD digibox to the new SKY On-demand digibox for a one-time fee of as low as P499 depending on their cable TV subscription plan. Subscribers can opt-in for upgrades after the consumer launch in March this year.

New SKYcable subscribers will soon be able to avail of the service for as low as P2,199 installation fee. Although SKY On-Demand can be accessed using other wired home Internet providers, this value added service is best experienced with SKYbroadband. Aside from its fast Internet connection, SKYbroadband subscribers can also enjoy premium access to special foreign and local movie titles from Paramount Pictures, NBC-Universal, Star Cinema, Regal Films and Viva Films.
