The theatre company that brought you hits like RENT, SWEET CHARITY, YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN is bringing you another blockbuster production this 2013. 9 Works Theatrical is staging the unforgettable music "THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG" starting off the season of love on February 8 to Sunday March 3, 2013 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium.
Robbie Guevara will be directing this musical along with theatre and/or mainstream stars like Nikki Gil (SWEET CHARITY), Lorenz Martinez (YOU’RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN, FORBIDDEN BROADWAY), Anna Santamaria, Jill Pena, Peachy Atilano, Reb Atadero (WOMAN IN BLACK, BARE), James Stacey (LEADING LADIES) and Noel Rayos (WALANG SUGAT, RAMA HARI).
The play zeroes in on the two main characters a wisecracking, respected composer in the person of Vernon Gersch and an offbeat lyricist personified by the character of Sonia Walsk. This play is essentially a two-character show wherein both have their own respective three-person Greek chorus acting out as their inner voices.
THEY’RE PLAYING ARE SONG is one of Pulitzer Prize winner and CHORUS LINE composer Marvin Hamlisch’s legacy in the musical theatre. As a composer he has won honors from the Academy Awards and Golden Globe (thrice), Grammy’s and Emmys (four times) and a Tony award.
