On the third installment of Resorts World Manila theater production, they bring us The King and I. Indeed Resorts World Manila is not stopping in bringing us awesome entertainment, bringing arts and culture closer to us and helping our world-class Filipino talents in achieving new heights.
Last September 14 was the premiere night of The King and I and I was excited to witness another musical spectacle. The Newport Performing Arts Theater was packed with VVIPs from all over the private and public companies, major media personalities and other press.
The King and I is led by the theatre legend Mr.
Leo Tavarro Valdez playing as the 'King Mongkut' of Siam, and I got to say, he was amazing! His counterpart the charming Anna is played by Monique Wilson another veteran stage actress also did well on her part. They are also backed up by a great set of cast.
Songs like “Getting to Know You” and “Shall We Dance” was an obvious favorite and the they certainly did perform it well. The costume designs from Aksana Sidarava and Rajo Laurel was simple stunning. The stage design I couldn't complain, It was just magnificent. The beautiful live music was scored by the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra led by the baton of Maestro Rodel Colmenar. The Philippine Ballet Theater was also there for the beautiful dance interpretation of "The Small of Uncle Tomas"
The King and I started its run last September 15 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila. So if you want to experience the world of Siam with Anna and the King, be ready to witness its grand stage and the astounding performances of The King and I’s all-Filipino casts.
