Personally, I am excited with this particular movie because it just oozes rock-awesomeness. It stars a great cast, it plays great music and the trailer just keeps you wanting more.
It stars a fictional Stacee Jaxx played by none other than Tom Cruise on the epic musical "Rock of Ages" who is the rock god that every guy wants to be and that every woman wants to bed. Being the front of a band and about to go solo, it was a big turning point of his career as he battles his own laziness and unreliable and let's leave it at that.
Directed by Adam Shankman, he tells a story back how he was able to get cruise for the part of Stacee Jaxx. “I was thinking to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if we got one of the biggest movie stars in the world to play one of the biggest rock stars in the world?’” Shankman reflects. “And, as luck would have it, I ran into Tom Cruise, told him I was directing this movie, that it was a musical, and that I was going to offer him this part. He said, ‘Are you serious?’ I said I was. Then I described Stacee to him and he laughed really hard. The next thing I knew, he was in, and I was making a musical with Tom Cruise.”
Tom started training his voice with an incredible vocal coach, Ron Anderson who also trained Axl Rose among many (great) others. They say that Tom have this outrageous, four-octave range which then turns out, having an opera singers in his ancestry, so they say that Cruise is probably genetically predisposed to sing,
"Rock of Ages" tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Starring Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Tom Cruise, Malin Akerman, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin, Will Forte, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti, Bryan Cranston. The rock 'n' roll movie is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more.
