Honestly, the name confused me upon watching the trailer... Then it came to me how they came up with the name.Yes, I'm not gonna tell you. :) c
Movie was Written and directed by J. J. Abrams. I was excited on how this would turn out, match it with Steven's producing and yeah, you have a good movie. check out the trailer below.
The movie is about 6 young kids trying to make a short movie. Found themselves in a middle of a big accident while shooting a scene, when they though that it was just an accident, it wasn't, and the rest is up to you to find out.
Here’s the official synopsis for Super 8:
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

The movie has this 'coming of age' feel which somehow reminded me the movies 'ET' and 'stand by me'. Plus giving it an action packed 'X-files' vibe. Yeah, there was a monster on the loose. I like the idea that the story kinda revolved around the kids, with the great support of the kid's parents.

The movie shows drama and makes the situations and scenes look so real and authentic. It also shows young love, jealousy, peer pressure, ambition, personal struggles. With all that, matched with the witty and perfectly timed one liners. Showing hints and bits of light curses from the kids making the movie easy to watch and easy to relate to.
The scenes were just perfect and I gotta say, the natural, raw and fresh acting of the kids supported by the adults are simply perfectly mixed together.
Humor from the kids flowed natural. Action scenes was also something to note from the movie. From the stunts of the kids, the adults, and errrr the aliens?yes, the action kept me on the edge of my seat.
Drama. Definitely there was drama in it, not too heavy but just right for the movie.

With these said and the names Abrams and Spielberg plus the young actors Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka and Kyle Chandler. I recommend you to watch this Movie. Yes I do. If you appreciate quality movie with a mix of funny, sweet and scary with a bit of mystery the this is the one for you.... and the feel of ET movie and Stand by me / coming of age type of movie------Watch it!

Definitely, Spielberg and Abrams at their best! :) I recommend that you guys watch it.
