WHAT??? HP bought Palm????

Okay, first up, i am a Palm user since i had the money to buy my own phone, right now, i am a proud owner of Palm Treo 680, and if i am proud and a fan, i should have been updated on these things, so sue me.

Something is about to change.... i think. Yes it was unexpected.. there we're rumors the Palm was up for bids a few months back, but news got to me a little later, one month later. Months back, i heard that HTC and Lenovo was looking into buying the said brand but then HP swooped in and bought the smartphone pioneer.

Guess how much did HP gave to acquire Palm.... 1.2 billion dollars, And Just late last year around November 2009, HP acquire 3Com Corporation, 3Com is a leading provider of networking switching, routing and security solutions. HP bought them for 2.7 Billion Dollars.. What's next for HP??

This is what Palm released last April 29, 2010.

HP and Palm, Inc. (NASDAQ: PALM) today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which HP will purchase Palm, a provider of smartphones powered by the Palm webOS mobile operating system, at a price of $5.70 per share of Palm common stock in cash or an enterprise value of approximately $1.2 billion. The transaction has been approved by the HP and Palm boards of directors.

Palm's last juice to push the said brand didn't worked out too well for them, even with the release of its latest smartphones last year. First, the Palm Pre, then the Palm Pre Pixi then the Palm Pre Plus then there is the Palm Pre Pixi Plus. hmmmmm

This Phone took the headlines but didn't suffice, the hype and expectations were too high and Palm somehow didn't lived up to it's much awaited hype. (maybe they need a better marketing campaign).

Well now that it's under HP i guess i can feel a lot safer, HP made more sense than selling it to Lenovo or HTC, their marketing is also better. Palm Pre was tagged as "the" iPhone killer". well, personally, i think it can still be, Palm still leads on the organizer/calendar/meetings etc. and Palm did revolutionized phone because of it's early smartphones. So i guess that it is now under HP, HP can pimp out Palm's existing tech and make it into a certified iPhone killer.

Kill kill kill iphone! yeah! hehe. This move will keep Apple on it's toes. watch out apple! watch out.

P.S. if anyone out there is willing to give me an iPhone i will betray Palm.

Mix signing out!
